AZOTOBACTER (POWDER & LIQUID)

TECHNICAL COMPOSITION / FORMULATION
Biofertiliser containing viable Azotobacter spp. in carrier-based and/or liquid formulation, as specified on the label.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Azotobacter is a free-living nitrogen-fixing biofertiliser for non-leguminous crops. It is used to support root development, nutrient cycling and biological nitrogen contribution in the rhizosphere.

HOW IT WORKS
The bacteria colonise the root zone and convert a portion of atmospheric nitrogen into biologically available forms. Some strains also produce growth-supporting metabolites, but response varies with strain, soil and crop.

RECOMMENDED CROPS / INTENDED USE
Wheat, maize, barley, millets, cotton, vegetables, oilseeds, horticultural crops and other approved non-leguminous crops. It is not the preferred inoculant for legumes, which require crop-specific Rhizobium.

Biological nitrogen fixation and rhizosphere support.

APPLICATION & DOSAGE
Seed treatment — liquid formulation
Use approximately 5–10 ml per kg of seed, or the label dose. Make a thin slurry with clean, non-chlorinated water, coat seed uniformly, shade-dry briefly and sow the same day.
Seed treatment — carrier/powder formulation
Use approximately 20 g per kg of seed, or the label dose. Use a suitable sticker only where recommended, coat uniformly and keep treated seed out of direct sun.
Soil application
Liquid: generally 1–2 litres per acre. Carrier/powder: generally 2–4 kg per acre. Mix with 25–50 kg of well-decomposed FYM/compost and broadcast near the root zone before light irrigation.
Root or seedling dip
For transplanted crops, dilute the label quantity in enough non-chlorinated water to wet the roots and dip for 20–30 minutes immediately before transplanting.

BEST USE PRACTICES & COMPATIBILITY
• Apply to moist soil and follow with light irrigation; prolonged dry conditions reduce microbial establishment.
• Use clean, non-chlorinated water. Avoid hot water and direct sunlight during preparation.
• Do not mix directly with strong chemical seed dressers, antibiotics, bactericides or disinfectants. Where both are required, follow the label sequence and maintain an appropriate interval.
• Biofertilisers supplement an integrated nutrient programme; they do not provide a guaranteed fixed amount of fertiliser nutrient in every field.

STORAGE & HANDLING
Store the unopened pack in a cool, shaded place away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not freeze or expose to high temperatures. Once opened, use promptly. Do not store mixed with fertilisers, pesticides or treated seed.
